There are places that are simply there. And there are places that carry history. The Tamsweg market square belongs to the second kind. Here nothing is loud. But everything is alive. Here you don't just pass by. Here you stop and stay.
For centuries the market square has been the heart of Tamsweg. Trade, encounters, festivities, conversations – everything ran and still runs together here. The façades tell of it. The inns. The fountain. The church that watches over it all and is just a few steps away. Our house – the Gellnwirt – stands right in the middle. For generations. And sometimes we think: this square has truly seen more than all of us together.
Strolling sounds grand. But here it's quite simple. You walk slowly. Look left, look right. Greet people. Stop. Talk. Perhaps with a coffee in hand. Perhaps with a shopping bag. Perhaps just with time. The market square is not an event. It is everyday life with quality.
What we especially love here: everyone knows each other. The shops are not chains. They are faces. And right in the middle of the square you'll find something quite special: Kemmts eina. The name says it all: “Kemmts eina.” Come on in. A farm shop as it should be. Honest. Regional. With principles. Here you'll find Lungau products that aren't staged – but made.
Among the herbs, syrups and fine glasses, you'll often find products from someone we know especially well.
Verena's sister. Herb witch. Nature whisperer. And the heart of the Burggerhof. What she does is not a trend. It is knowledge. Herb salts. Tea blends. Vinegars. Salves. All with that fine signature you only get when you live outdoors. You'll find many of her products at “Kemmts eina”. And sometimes in our kitchen too. That's how the circle closes: from field to shop. From shop to inn. From inn to your plate.
Perhaps you come as a guest. Take a holiday in the Salzburg Lungau. Stroll across the market square. Go shopping. Get drawn into “Kemmts eina”. Take a jar of herb salt with you. And in the evening you sit with us in the inn. And at some point you notice: you are no longer just a visitor. You have become part of this square.
Take it slowly.
The market square is not an item on a programme. It is a feeling. And sometimes the loveliest holiday begins right here – among cobblestones, open doors and an honest “Kemmts eina”.
